New Mexico Unemployment Application
If you need to complete a New Mexico unemployment application, you can conveniently do so at http://www.uiclaims.state.nm.us/. It will take about 30 minutes to complete the application, and you have access to the site 24 hours a day seven days a week with the exception of the hours from 2 am until 4 am Mountain Time. If you would rather phone in your application, you can do so by calling (505) 841-4000. Those who apply over the phone are encouraged to do so on Tuesdays and Thursdays when call volume is not as high.

However you decide to file your New Mexico unemployment application, there are a few things you will need to have nearby. You will need your social security number and information about your jobs and employers for the previous 18 months. This information includes dates worked, and addresses and phone numbers of the employers. You will also need your mother's maiden name for registration. Upon registration, you will select a four digit PIN number, which you will need to memorize or write down, as you will need this PIN each time you access your claim online or over the phone.
After your claim has been submitted, you will receive a Notice of Initial Determination in the mail. This notice will have information about your claim and your benefits, including your weekly and your maximum benefit amounts. You will then need to certify your claim once a week, which you can also do online or over the phone. You will find, however, that there are far more resources available to you by accessing the website. For example, you will be able to instantly download a New Mexico unemployment insurance handbook, which will explain the process in detail and provide additional information, such as how to file an appeal if your claim is denied.
