New Mexico Unemployment Claim

You can use the Internet Unemployment Insurance Online System to file your New Mexico unemployment claim 24 hours a day, except between the hours of 2am and 4am Mountain Time.  Filing weekly claims, responding to information demands and requests, reviews for benefit data and pursuing file appeals in the future might also be possible vis a vis Internet Unemployment Insurance Online System.

To file for a New Mexico unemployment claim, you must first register with the Department of Workforce Solutions by submitting your social security number, your mother’s maiden name (necessary for ID verification), and selecting a personal identification number (PIN).

The beginning of your claim will be effective the Sunday of the very week in which you file.  You should not delay in applying for benefits.  Once you have submitted your claim, a Notice of Initial Determination will be sent to you.  This form contains information such as the start date of your New Mexico unemployment claim, your weekly and maximum benefit totals, the sum of wages reported by former employers during each quarter of a previous year used to decide UI benefits, and your salary that will be used for computing benefits.

You can request the initiation of a review of your records if you feel that errors or miscalculations have been made about your wages computation (i.e., if you feel your wages are missing or have been listed incorrectly).  If you fail to request a review at the time of your file claim, you can always do this later by contacting a customer service representative.  You will need to supply such evidence as W-2 statements, proof of wages such as check stubs, and/or other documents.  You will be asked to either fax or mail a copy of your documents to the proper authorities.
